Here is a story.
Many Years ago I relocated from Ca to NV. I had to leave a mare and foal and my young pet steer by the coast so they wouldn't have to endure a new and cold winter. I did bring the rest of my horses, including one who was 27. I am so grateful that Rambo came with me so I could see him through his passing at 28.
The Broodmare and baby were trusted to a friend who assured me they would be safe until I could bring them to the sierras in spring when the baby would be a yearling. Tragedy fell upon the foal when some unattended human items were left in the pasture and the foal was accidently killed.
PLEASE consider helping us out! GFROM OUR HOOVES AND HEARTS.. we thank you to pick up my mare. I announced that, despite misgivings from my friends and partner about bringing Norman home, if he recognized me, he was coming to NV as well.
So I have my mare all loaded up and I headed to the pasture where Norman was living with about 20 black angus. He was being cared for by a family friend who was kind enough to indulge me.
I park at the bottom of the hill and look up to see that the herd was being let into a new field and I called up to Norman. I Yelled "HEY NORMAN"!!! The next moment I will forever cherish. He looked down to me ... mooed over and over ... and came running down the hill. I was crying my eyes out! I put a halter on him, he walked right into the trailer and the 3 of us drove home.
I lost Twiggy at 27 and she is in her pen at my old house.
Norman was 21 when I had to let him crossover. He is also with me here and I think of him every day!
I have been holding on to the lives of my animals my entire life. Soft Landing is not new!!! Its just a title for the cause that I need help with financially so that more babies like these have loving homes for their WHOLE life. Not just the part that suits their human.
