This is Nikki. He was given to me when he was 20 years old (1983). He was with us when he died peacefully at 27 our ranch in Larkin Valley where he is still.
Our first Sr., Nikki set the standard for how rewarding it is to provide love, comfort, safety, as well as the promise of a soft landing when that time happens.

We basically rescued/adopted this horse that through legal ties had become essentially abandoned. She was a horse left at a neighboring property.
She will be with us at Soft Landing for the indefinite future. She’s adorable. She’s now not going to be lonely and she’s gonna get her feet done!

Bugsy- A 28 yr old QH, "Volkswagon" came to us from some folks who were at the end of their ability to finance his needs. They were tempted to send him to the livestock auction for immediate relief, but called us instead.
It was a lucky day for all of us. We happily brought him home and he literally is the kindest, coolest old horse we have had the pleasure to get to know so late in his life. It is a horse like him who reassures me that this venture is so valuable, not only to the horses, but the humans who make the kind decision to let him be cared for rather than discarded.

Sheba is a 26 ear-old Arabian mare who’s truly one of a kind. She’s landed gently at her forever home, where she gets the care she needs to manage her Cushing’s—a little extra effort that’s more than worth it for a horse with such a big, golden heart. Around here, she’s something of a summer camp legend. With a western saddle and all the patience in the world, she lets the kids practice tossing a loop, standing calmly like she’s done it a thousand times. Every now and then, she picks a favorite and becomes a little girl’s best friend for the day. Sheba may be in her senior years, but she’s still got so much love to give—and she gives it freely.

Sampson is a sweet old soul, around 30 years old, with the gentle heart of an Andalusian. He’s a little shy but incredibly kind and sensitive, always in tune with the emotions of the people around him. His previous owner loved him but just couldn’t keep up with his care anymore. Over the years, Sampson became the go-to horse for anyone needing a quiet, comforting presence. He had this unique way of standing still, soaking up soft words and gentle touches, always offering warmth to those who needed it most.

Quinny is a 30-year-old Thoroughbred. He is the kind of horse who carries his wisdom with quiet dignity. A former show horse turned master school horse, he has spent much of his life teaching riders with patience and grace. Even now, he occasionally shares his gifts, guiding those willing to learn. His love for water is undeniable, and despite his age, he remains the one horse trusted to venture out on desert trail rides, his steady presence a testament to his strength and spirit. A true teacher at heart, Quinn continues to leave a lasting impact on those lucky enough to know him.

Luka, a senior Thoroughbred gelding in his mid-20s, carries a quiet mystery from his past. Rescued after his owner passed away, little was known about his training or experiences. Shy yet willing, he has slowly learned to trust through daily care and gentle handling. Though catching him requires patience—and a few extra treats—his sweet nature shines through once he’s at ease. With time and kindness, Luka has formed a quiet but meaningful bond, proving that even the most uncertain beginnings can lead to companionship and trust.

Little Devil is a 27 year-old Oldenburg gelding. He has spent his life proving that his name couldn’t be further from the truth. Dev is a retired show jumper; He carried countless young riders to high-level competitions with his steady heart and unwavering skill. Though he no longer has to jump, he occasionally shares his wisdom with beginners.
Remarkably sound throughout his career, he now enjoys a well-earned retirement filled with playful splashes in the water. While his name may not be a favorite, those who know him best adore his gentle spirit and endless generosity. He is more of a Steady Eddy!!
